QR code ordering: Petpooja vs AppZet Billing

Both let a guest scan a table QR and order. The real difference is who controls the table: who may order, how the order is checked, and what happens when a family sits at two tables or two families share one.

How each one works, step by step

Petpooja's steps follow its own published guide (Scan and Order, checked 13 October 2026). Where their guide does not say something, we write "not described" and do not guess.

Petpooja Scan & Order
  1. 01ScanEvery table has its own QR code. The diner scans it with the phone camera and the menu opens in the browser, with no app.
  2. 02OrderThe diner picks items and variations and submits the order.
  3. 03ValidateA validation code appears on the diner phone. Staff check it against the order on the POS. The kitchen order ticket (KOT) is made only after this check.
  4. 04KitchenThe KOT goes to the right kitchen station.
  5. 05ReorderScanning the same code again adds items to the same running bill.
  6. 06PayThe diner asks for the bill or pays from the phone, depending on the setup. Settlement runs through the normal billing.
AppZet Billing QR ordering
  1. 01Waiter opens the tableThe waiter seats the guests: how many, and on which table or tables. A group code is made. Until then a scan only says "please ask the waiter to seat you".
  2. 02ScanThe guest scans the table QR (no app, no sign-up). With one group at the table they join it automatically; with two or more they type the group code.
  3. 03OrderGuests pick dishes, sizes and add-ons from any phone and send them. There is no limit on orders per person or phone. Prices always come from your menu.
  4. 04ValidateThe phone shows a code. The waiter compares it with the code on the order card, then taps Accept. In direct mode the order goes straight to the kitchen.
  5. 05One bill per groupThe first accepted order starts the group bill, later orders join it. Each order shows who ordered and from which table. A wrong-group order can be moved.
  6. 06Pay and free the seatsThe cashier takes one payment for the group. Closing the bill frees the seats on every table of the group.

When is Petpooja the better choice?

An honest comparison cuts both ways. Petpooja may suit you better if:

  1. 1You already run on Petpooja and want one system for everything, including its payment and marketing tools.
  2. 2Guests must pay from their phone at the table today.
  3. 3You need offline billing or its other integrations.

For a restaurant that wants to control who orders, share big tables fairly and keep one bill for a group, AppZet Billing was built for exactly that. Also read: AppZet Billing vs Petpooja: prices and features and What is QR ordering?

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between Petpooja and AppZet QR ordering?

Both give each table a QR code and check the order before the kitchen starts. AppZet adds control over who can order: the waiter opens the table and counts the seats, guests belong to a group with its own bill, and a group can sit across two tables and still pay once.

Why does AppZet make the waiter open the table?

A QR sticker is public. Anyone who has visited can photograph it. When the QR only takes orders for a table the waiter has opened, and the waiter checks a code on the guest phone, an order from someone not at the table cannot reach the kitchen.

What happens when two families share one big table?

The waiter seats each family as its own group, for example 7 and 3 seats on a table of 10. A guest with more than one group at the table types the group code, so an order goes to the right bill. The seat map shows the table as partly full.

Can one family sit at two tables and get one bill?

Yes. A group can hold seats on more than one table. Orders from either table go to the group bill, tagged with the table they came from, so the waiter knows where to serve.

Do I have to reprint the QR codes?

No. The code on the sticker is permanent. There is an emergency button that makes new codes, only for the day a code leaks.

Can guests pay from their phone?

Not yet. Guests pay at the counter, and the cashier takes one payment for the group.

Does a guest need an app?

No. The menu and ordering open in the phone browser after scanning the QR.
